Meet Gabriel Romberger

Gabriel Romberger was born in Braunau am Inn in 1994. He received his first music lessons at the age of six. He is a multiple prizewinner of the Austria-wide music competition Prima la Musica. In 2012, at the age of 17, he won first prize in the piano and organ categories at the federal level. Gabriel is not only the recipient of the Dr. Josef Ratzenböck scholarship, he was also awarded the Rotary Music Award in 2014. He studied piano and music theory/ear training at the Mozarteum Salzburg and at the University of Music and Theater in Munich. In addition to his busy concert activities as a chamber musician and as a soloist, he is devoting himself more and more to composition. His children's opera "Ivy" (libretto: Heike Kreutzer) premiered in spring 2019.

The premiere of the Christmas Oratorio, a work commissioned by the Innphilharmonie Rosenheim (D), planned for December 2021, has been postponed by a year due to corona. Gabriel's musical journey took him to both the Salzburg Residence and the residence of the British Embassy in Vienna.

In June 2022 he will make his concert debut at the organ concerts in St. Peter's Church in Vienna's 1st district. Gabriel will be able to present the organ in St. Peter's Church for a city portrait of Vienna by the Japanese television station NHK. Filming will take place in early September 2022. In May 2024 he won first prize in the international "ScoreLive" composition competition. Gabriel iscurrently working on a new musical with librettist Birgit Mathon.
