I am a multi-instrumentalist composer, multimedia artist, and most recently  writer-director & actor based in Berlin. Combining my experience from various fields of art, I'm developing an interdisciplinary, immersive work ethic by acting  in pictures I score, writing and producing pictures I act in, and taking up various roles within single productions. I encourage my collaborators to work towards Gesamtkunstwerke, interweaving crafts and creating immersive working environments. 

Never having studied classical composition, Kern’s orchestral compositional practice emerged from self-study, out of the artistic fields he has worked in, and from his musical intuition from his lifelong engagement with music. He started playing the violin at 3, the piano at 3, and wrote his first composition at 13.

Under the moniker ForestChoir, I have been creating immersive auditive spaces and multimedia installations, i.a. with spatial & 3D audio venues, for self-exploration and narrative meditation since 2018. Combining live vocals, field recordings and live instruments, I have co-authored interdisciplinary projects, interweaving my soundscapes with live visuals, performative elements and audio-reactive exhibitions.

I graduated from the Catalyst Institute for Art & Technology Berlin in the field of Electronic Music Production and Performance (B.A.) in 2021 and in the field of Creative Audio Production (M.A.) in 2024 with honours. I will continue my studies in 2026, recently having been accepted for the M.A. in Composition at the HMT Leipzig (Musikhochschule für Musik & Theater), one of the most renowned music institutes in Europe.
