Welcome to the GEMS YOUNG COMPOSERS FILM + GAME SCORING SUMMER PROGRAM. For the past 8 years GEMS has provided music programs for 200+ international students from over 40 countries. Our teaching faculty are all professional composers who also teach in colleges and universities around the world including USC. We now welcome schools and students 12-18 years old. We offer three types of programs for different numbers of students. Starting with our FOUNDATION PROGRAM, then our EXPERIENCE PROGRAM, finally our ELEVATION PROGRAM. Schools can also work with us to create a personalised bespoke program that suits their creative needs linking the GEMS Summer Program to their curriculum allowing students to present evidence of achievement in additional areas of study for academic consideration, portfolios for college and university applications and employment. choose your own film + game scoring summer program
We offer three types of summer program to suit your school and your students needs. Classes in all the program options are the same. Programs are based on student numbers with each program offering advanced options such as accommodation, airport transfers, studio recording or the Gala Concert, Boot Camp, the number of teachers and supervisors and in person visiting award winning composers.

The first four days for each summer program are set classes on composition for film, game, animation, orchestration and music technology. Days five and six are elective days where students can choose what subject classes they would like to attend. For students who have enrolled on the ELEVATION PROGRAM, day seven is the studio recording day or the Gala Concert Day. Students who have enrolled on the FOUNDATION PROGRAM or the EXPERIENCE PROGRAM will continue to choose elective classes on day seven, from the elective list on page three. The studio recording in the ELEVATION PROGRAM can be exchanged for a Gala Concert held in the auditorium at the Conservatorio. A 65 piece orchestra in the Conservatorio Superior de Música auditorium performing one piece of music from each student. Invited audience of 400 people. Including a live Panasonic PTZ 8 camera recording of the entire Gala Concert. Finally, a school may request a theme for the summer program that covers a specific genre such as video game scoring, where the entire summer program is a bespoke set of intensive classes covering that genre, and lead in person, by an award winning Hollywood composer.

FOUNDATION PROGRAM
Our Foundation Program is a perfect entry level program for a young composer who is interested in getting to know the fundamentals of scoring and composition for multi media.
FOUNDATION PROGRAM PLUS (+)
Our Foundation Program Plus also includes an in person visit from an award winning composer in either game, film or series who will teach Foundation Program Plus exclusively.Schools can request a genre and choose a male or female composer from our extensive maestros portfolio, that suits their students needs.​
EXPERIENCE PROGRAM
Our Experience Program includes Halls of Residence, airport transfers and student supervisors. The Experience Program gives students just that. A sense of independence in a safe and secure environment, self managing whilst embedded in an intensive scoring program with peers and new friends.
EXPERIENCE PROGRAM PLUS (+)

Our Experience Program Plus also includes an in person visit from an award winning composer in either game, film or series who will teach Experience Program Plus exclusively. Schools can request a genre and choose a male or female composer from our extensive maestros portfolio, that suits their students needs.
ELEVATION PROGRAM
Our Elevation Program includes Halls of Residence, airport transfers, student supervisors, a BootCamp and a Live Recording/Gala Concert. Before you arrive, we will send you a composition challenge. Write a score for one of three video cues we will send to you. Choose the video cue you like best and go for it! If you prefer, you can simply write a piece of music without the video cue. Then the Online Boot Camp June 1st-2nd, 2025. Here you will work with our orchestrators who will help you get your composition, score and parts ready. You will then have 2 weeks to finalise your composition and submit it to us June 14th 2025. Once received, we send your music to the studio ready to record on the final day of the Young Composers GEMS Summer Program. The recording can be exchanged for a Gala Concert held in the auditorium at the Conservatorio. If you are aiming to start a career in music or study a music degree then this program is for you.

Summary
The GEMS 7 day Young Composers FIlm Game Scoring Summer Program. Starting with intensive composition classes + electives, further options include, BootCamp, Studio Recording or Gala Concert, Halls of Residence, Student Supervisors, Airport transfers, Visiting Hollywood Composers. Contact teaching time, 7 hours per day, 49 hours total.

For all program options, the GEMS Summer Program once again partners with the Conservatorio Superior de Música "Joaquín Rodrigo" Valencia, Spain who host the GEMS Summer Program. Practice and study rooms, dedicated class rooms.

With the ELEVATION PROGRAM, University Halls of Residence livensaliving accommodation just 5 minutes walk from the conservatory. It is modern, gated accommodation with 24/7 security. Wifi. Kitchen. Sports facilities. Single or shared rooms are available each with an individual bathroom. (Available for a minumin of 20 students)

With the ELEVATION PROGRAM, Valencia airport transfer will pick up group arrivals on the same flights and drop off groups to catch their return flights home. Student supervisors will be at airport arrivals to meet groups and accompany them to the hall of residence, and for their return journey back to the airport.

For all program options, breakfast and lunch will be available daily during the GEMS Summer Program at the cafeteria inside the conservatory. Breakfast 09:00 - 10:00 Lunch 13:00 - 14:30. Vegetarian + Gluten free options available.
All menus in Spain now display a list of allergy warnings.

For all program options, students receive their welcome pack that includes Magazines, Film Scores, Game Scores, T-Shirts. At the end of the GEMS Summer Program students receive their certificates, photos, videos and music. We also take the students on our annual trip to see a traditional Flamenco Show in the historic old town of Valencia and we go for a traditional Valencian Paella meal.
(Vegetarian paellas are available.)
