My name is Niccolò Buscemi, and I am an Italian composer, orchestrator, arranger, producer, and pianist.

I began writing music for theatre at the age of fourteen, working alongside my father, actor and theatre director Andrea Buscemi. Since then, I have composed music for more than thirty stage productions, collaborating with prominent figures of the Italian theatre scene and engaging with authors ranging from Shakespeare and Molière to Pirandello, Gogol, and Baricco. These productions have been performed in over one hundred theatres throughout Italy.

I graduated with highest honors in both Piano and Composition from the Luigi Boccherini Conservatory of Lucca. Alongside my theatrical work, I compose for film, television, and the concert stage. In 2021, I wrote the score for the Italian-Canadian feature film Dans une semaine, directed by Roberto Zorfini, which was selected among the ten Canadian films eligible for consideration for the 95th Academy Awards.

My recent works include War Fanfare Against All Wars for fifty trumpets and timpani, commissioned by the Luigi Boccherini Conservatory and premiered at the Lucca Wind Festival, and Redemption – Poem of the Unconscious for large orchestra, based on the ancient Hurrian Hymn No. 6, considered the oldest surviving example of written music in human history. In 2026, I won the International Film Music Competition “Luis Bacalov” with my composition The Last Waltz. In the same year, I was selected as a finalist in both the ScoreLive Competition and the ScoreLive Space Challenge.

I am honoured to participate in the GEMS International Summer Program, founded by Nigel Ashley Lees and featuring Christopher Young, whose music and artistic vision have been a source of inspiration to me for many years.

My artistic research focuses on the relationship between music, memory, imagination, and storytelling, seeking to unite emotional depth with a strong narrative voice.
