Traditional Valencian Music, Song and Dance
The historic city of Valencia has a long tradition of music, song and dance which is still plays a massive part of the identity of Valencia and Valencians.
To kick off the start of the GEMS Film Scoring Summer Program we bring you into the heart of the culture and tradition of Valencia, Spain with its regional costumes, music and dance.
We bring this amazing experience right to you. GEMS Events are hosted and performed in the classroom, giving you a front row seat. Afterwards you get to meet the performers and who knows get them to play on your next score.
The double reed instrument of the oboe family is a Dolçaina, and the drum is the Tabalet, both instruments are typically played together by the musicians.
The beautiful traditional costumes are just like the ones worn in the XVIII and XIX century and are worn and danced in, at festivals and events all year round across the Valencian Community, and can be seen and heard everywhere during Las fallas Festival, Valencia, Spain, one of the Biggest and Loudest Festivals in Europe!
We look forward to welcoming you to the GEMS Film Scoring Summer Program in Valencia, Spain.
