Meet Chase Hampton

Chase Hampton is a composer and arranger from Huntsville, Alabama, USA. His works range from chamber music to large ensembles and scores for film and games. His pieces have been performed by school, community, and professional groups throughout the United States, such as the Shoals Symphony Orchestra, with which he was a Solo Artist in 2019. His work has also been recognized by the George Lindsey Film Festival, Alabama Music Educators Association, and the International Horn Society. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of North Alabama before serving as a high school band teacher in Tennessee; after this, he earned his Master of Music Composition at Wichita State University and taught composition lessons at Bethany College. He frequently collaborates with other disciplines, such as artists, filmmakers, and dancers, including a ballet performed with the Smack Dab Dance Lab. Many of these collaborations involved ICTus, a new music collective he began while in Wichita, Kansas. While composition is his main pursuit, his musical experience began with playing French horn in school; he still performs on it with groups like the Wichita Symphony Orchestra. When not involved in music, he can often be found outside cataloguing trees or birdsong.
