Meet Luka Vezmar

I'm a composer, oboist, accordionist, and all-around music lover. Ever since I was just 9 months old, I've been attending concerts with my family and friends—experiences that have continually inspired me to create music. I grew up playing piano and explored a variety of instruments throughout my schooling, including trumpet, saxophone, and oboe. Eventually, I chose to focus on the oboe, and I'm currently finishing my Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance and Composition at CU Boulder.
While my music spans many styles, I have a deep passion for film and film music. I'm fascinated by the way music can shape a story, evoke emotion, and bring scenes b life. This has had a strong influence on my compositional voice, and I love exploring how musical storytelling can cross genres and formats. I strive to infuse my music with a distinct character—something that makes each piece feel alive. My hope is that listeners connect with what I create—and maybe even leave feeling a little better than when they arrived.
I’m currently completing my Bachelor of Music at the University of Colorado Boulder, with a dual emphasis in Oboe Performance and Composition. My formal music education has been shaped by a wide range of instrumental experiences—I began on piano and explored trumpet, saxophone, and eventually found my primary voice through the oboe. Alongside my performance studies, I’ve developed a strong foundation in music theory, orchestration, and contemporary composition practices. I’m also deeply passionate about film and film music, which has influenced my approach to storytelling through sound. My educational journey has been both broad and focused, allowing me to grow as a well-rounded musician and composer with a unique artistic voice.
