Meet Marcos Ripoll



Marcos Ripoll: Between the Tuba, Composition, and Sound
Marcos Ripoll is a tubist, composer, and sound producer with an international career. He began his musical studies at the age of 12 at the Sociedad Musical Instructiva Santa Cecilia in Cullera, Spain. He holds a degree from The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (UK) and a Higher Degree in Tuba from the Salvador Seguí Conservatory in Castellón. He also studied at the Conservatory of Perpignan (France), where he was awarded the Silver Medal.
He holds two master’s degrees with highest honors: one in Musical Analysis and Performance from the University of Oviedo (Spain), and another in Tuba and Musical Performance from Lund University – Musikhögskolan in Malmö (Sweden).
As a composer, his works range from chamber music to a Tuba Concerto, which was a finalist in the ITEA Composition Competition. His current focus is music for audiovisual media and video games, having recently completed the GEMS (Game and Emerging Media Scoring) program, where he studied with renowned composers such as Christopher Young, Pete Anthony and Garry Schyman.
Ripoll has released three solo albums: Mediterranean Tuba (2012), Contemporary Classics for a Lone Tuba (2016), and Endeavour (2021), featuring both traditional repertoire and original compositions.
In addition to his performance and compositional work, he has recorded and produced over a dozen albums, collaborating with various labels. He is certified in Protools 101 and completed the “Spatial Sound and 3D” course at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
